I have been having pain on the left side of my chest.
Sent to Health Experts July 06 11:44 PM

I have been having pain on the left side of my chest. It feels like a needle is being stuck into my heart. It only lasts for about 3 seconds. I don't think it is a pinched nerve, because there is no tingling or numbness involved. I am a waitress, and I do lift heavy trays all night. I'm scared though, because when I was younger I abused ephedra and Ma Haung for about three years. I don't do anything now. I don't smoke, drink or do drugs. I'm 32 , and I have been athletic my whole life. I have this pinching feeling anytime of the day, even at rest.   I do sometimes feel it on my right side too, but just a handful of times. I'm hoping it is just some kind of muscle spasm. Should I be conserned?

Hello,

I would make an appointment with your doctor to have an exam to include an EKG, which will provide you not only with an accurate diagnois, but more importantly peace of mind.

I know precisely what is involved in waitressing. My family owns three very busy restaurants in Little Italy & other NY locations. I have worked in these retuarants during banquets and dinner service and have lifted my share of heavy trays. I suffered my share of aches and pains!

I tend to beleive this is associated with muscle spasm/strain and may be the first sign of a pinched nerve, even though you do not have tingling or numbness.

If you do not have hyoertension, shortness of breath, crishing chest pain, it is unlikely that it is cardiac in nature.

Here is some info, please let me know if you have any questions.
