MY hands have been swollen and discolored for 3 months. My wrist are not swollen. I have been under the care of a dermatologist, a rumatiod doctor and my primary care physician. Blood test results are fine ruling out lupus and some other possibilities. My docotor thinks it's arthritsis, it may be but I'm convienced it's more than that. I need to know what kind of specialist I can go to to determine what is causing this discomfort. I have For 4 weeks I was using Clobetasol Propionate Cream then he switched to ApexiCon Cream - neither seemed to help. My regular meds are Felodipine 5 mg. once a day but for my hands I am taking Clarinex (because the sometimes itch), Arthrotec for the inflammation and hydorcholorothiazine for the swelling. I was also on a type of steriod for five days. There has been no change. Yes my ankles are swollen, but the physician says that a side effect of Felodipine. I am at my wits end. My hands pain, they are sore to touch and they are discolored.
A few months ago I was using a cleaning solution without gloves, it seems to have been when this problem started and none of the physicians think that an allergic reaction to that would last this long. Any suggestions?

What happened to your hand may be total cumulative effect of using Felodipine and cleaning solution without gloves. Discoloration possibly wouldn't be caused by anything else other than the cleaning solution. Felodipine also has side effect on hands such as " tingling, burning or numbness in the fingers."

So your problem looks like allergy+medication side effect combination type thing. I suggest to you to see a Allergy and immunology specialiast.

Reply to V. Yetimyan   M.D.'s Post: One last question would Norvac cause the same side effect as Felodipine? I didn't start taking Felodipine until April 30, 2006 I was taking Norvac before then and the swelling started before April 30, 2006 sorry if what I said was misleading.

Norvasc also can cause swelling of the ankles and itching of the skin.
