Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),

Unfortunately this is becoming a more and more common complaint of statin drugs. What you're experiencing in muscle atrophy due to statin drug. Many doctors may not be able to give you answers because there really aren't any.

First, I hope you have STOPPED taking statins. Second, you might want to speak to an attorney. There are many lawsuits pending for similar cases. I also suggest seeing a different doctor (other than the one who prescribed the pravachol) to discuss your muscle atrophy for therapy or other treatments to at least stop the progression of the atrophy. A nutrionist can offer some insight on dietary recommendations that will be most beneficial to muscle development.

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy), (Betty)

I suggest you begin with a general practitioner. You may even be referred to a gastroenterologist (specialized in liver and other digestive disorders.) Perhaps this specialist may have some treatment options available to either treat or prevent further damage of your muscle atrophy due to statin use.

On the "Up Side" you did not take the pravachol for an extended period of time, therefore your chances for a better recovery are in your favor.

I would like to mention again that a dietary nutritionist may be able to offer you diet tips to help improve your muscle tone. In addition, a nutritionist can offer you help in lowering your cholesterol WITHOUT drugs.

THANKFULLY, you knew enough to stop the drug yourself when you began seeing these symptoms.

These tests can cost money; so please be sure to contact an attorney who specialize in medical errors to help the cost.

In the meantime, try to to some active range of motions with your muscles...(arm and leg lifts, etc...) This is called Active Range of Motion.

For the muscles that are weaker, use your stronger muscles to move those weaker with your stronger ones. (Called Passive Range of Motion.)

Betty,

I looked at your profile to get an idea of where you lived to help you find an attorney who specialized in this, but not a whole lot of luck in Kerman CA.

Remember that you most likely will be going after the pharmaceutical company rather than the physician (that is....unless the physician continued to prescribed you the Pravachol KNOWING all along that you were suffering these horrible effects.)

Anyway, I found a site for you. Click below and fill out a short questionaire so they can help point you in the right direction.
