My scalp is very sore around the crown area. My hair has been getting finer and less dense for almost 6 years now. I used to have the healthiest head of hair in my entire family! A cowlick has also come into play on one side of my crown. i've done blood tests, tried the antifungal shampoo, taken hair vitamins/ biotin, and have had a very healthy diet and yet my hair seems to have made no progress. I usually lose about 170 hairs a day, which i know is not normal, but my mom just says I'm shedding. please help, thanks!

You may have alopecia androgenetica.

alopecia androgenetica (male pattern baldness) is the most common form of hair loss which can affect both men and women. The hairline begins to recede into an 'M' shape and there is some hair loss on the crown of the head.

Therapeutic options include topical 2% minoxidil solution, topical 5% minoxidil solution, and oral finasteride 1 mg/day. Oral finasteride, an inhibitor of type II 5- reductase, is the most effective nonsurgical therapy.

that answer wasn't really helpful. i already know about alopecia. i was hoping for a little more focused help besides just saying i might have hair loss because it is obvious that i do. but most doctors i guess wont even acknowledge the fact that my hair keeps thinning so i guess thanks for that part. your solutions to my problem are helpful so i guess i'll give them a shot and ask my doctor about those, but thanks for the time and the quick response.
