The experience that I have had with this has been Azithromycin 2 grams orally, one dose. There have been studies that say only 1 gram will work but it is best to take 2 since I have always seen this done. I have added some links for more detailed information about this:

Diagnosis and Management of Syphilis - July 15, 2003 - American Family Physician

Azithromycin for Treatment of Incubating Syphilis - February 1, 2000 - American Academy of Family Physicians

Reply to James's Post: here it is...I am not sure i have it or not. my ex-girlfriend just told me that she has only been with 2 guys. Me being one of them. she contracted syphillis about 6 months ago but did not tell me when we had protected sex (but we did have oral)about 6 weeks ago. i don't have symptoms but am afraid it's incubating in my system. I wonderf If i can buy the antibiotic online without spending the funds to see a doctor for him to give me the same stuff. when looking online most times you can buy the antibiotic with 6 tablets at 250mg. can the treatment be done over several days or is it best to take a higher dose with fewer days?

I really wouldn't trust the online stores with obtaining antibiotics. You'll never know what you get and it may contain other chemicals that you could be allergic to. I recommend that you see a doctor this morning for a full STD workup and treatment for a positive contact for Syphillus. Your ex may have gotten another STD that she doesn't know about. It's worth the money to see a doctor for a FULL STD workup. Most clinics can sign you up for insurance or help you out with a payment plan. Also, most big cities have community clinics designed to deal with STD's.

Reply to James's Post: Hmmm! Online pharms are not required to carry the same stuff as a pharm at your local drugstore? Ok. will check with my doc. is it possible to have it and never get symtoms? once cured can you contract it again? I don't have unprotected sex and have never had a cold sore or any other STD before (i get tested 2 times a year) BTW... she has been tested for everything and that is how they found out she had it but all else is neg. thanks for your help

I'm sorry for that. It's not that the drug stores don't carry the same stuff but many have been found to sell drugs that aren't what the customer wanted, resulting in either the patient not getting the right medication or getting something that could harm them. Your best bet on antibiotics and narcotics would be to go through a doctor. ( I know you didn't say anything about narcotics but I thought I would throw that in there. ) Since you haven't had unprotected sex then the possibility of you having this disease is lower. You should still be checked. It is possible for you to have this and not have symptoms for months or you may have symptoms and then they will go away, but the infection will still breed inside of the body causing more organ damage later on.
