Question

I have small red bumped that appeared on the left side ...

Sent to Health Experts August 29, 2006 4:52 p.m.

I have small red bumped that appeared on the left side of my abomen about 2 plus weeks ago. They do not itch, but to day I notioced one was larger and weeping. There are about 8-10 small bumps. I noticed one or two on the inside of my left leg today. I work out reguarly and sweat there but I do not if that caused the issue. I treated it initially like acne using a ancn med with no luck. I tried hydro coritzoe cream with no luck. There is no pain. I have also been taking whirl-pool tubs lately to help with workout pain. I have not been ill.

Do you use a public spa?

Has the redness spread at all?

You said that these bumps don't hurt, do they hurt at all?

What color is the pus or discharge?

Do you shave the area where the bumps are?

Can you send a picture of these bumps to my email? This would help me better identify these bumps. If not please say so and I will give my answer.

Sorry doc no way to do that. I am an old LDO and dont have that great tech. I am just trying to see if I can avoid the MD for a minor rash. I have access to some Triamcinolone 0.1% cream if that would help. I am about to leave ona trip, I need a quick fix and if it gets worse of course I will take a trip to the MD. It is not on the penis or scrotom at all, just the left side of abdomenin an area about 4" round. Th eonly other is two small ones on the inside of left leg

This could be fungal or bacterial. I would say try the antifungal for a few days since you have already tried Hydrocortisone cream. Also, take Benadryl over the counter while you are doing this just to see if this helps the swelling go down. Don't use the spa until the sores go away. If they get worse or don't go away with the antifungal cream then you must see a doctor. Make sure the doctor takes a swab culture of any fluid that is present as this will help him/her to know what is causing these bumps.

No the Triamcinolone is another steriod similar to Hydrocortisone. Try an over the counter like Lamisil. This generally works best. If you notice that the bumps get worse then you can likely rule out a fungal infection. Unless a culture comes up with a rampant type of fungus.
