Hello and Welcome to Just Answer,

Can you tell me if you are taking any other medications? If so what are the names of them? What has the doctor told you? In most cases you need to be with nothing by mouth for 24 hours before surgery.

Thank you for answering my questions,
Pam Russell RN

Wow that is kind of unusual for a doctor to write no medications for two weeks before the surgery. Especially people who take alot of medication that they really need. I cannot legally tell you yes that you can take them, because I really don't know what his rational is. I would certainly try to contact him and explain you are in a great amount of pain. If you cannot get ahold of him then I would go to the ER and explain the situation to them and I would bet you that they will give you something for the pain. I had half my colon removed and they took me off of all my medication for 5 days. I was on alot of meds and suffered greatly, so I know how you feel. I would definately check into this. It just doesnt' seem right. Also taking ibuprofen will not even touch the pain if you were taking hydrocodone. I would go to the ER so you can get some relief and follow up with him when he is back in the office.

Thank you,
Pam Russell RN
