Question

Leg Pain

Sent to Health Experts September 05, 2006 7:10 p.m.

I am a 20 year old female. I weigh 190 pounds and am 5'2. I work as a cashier and am standing for long hours through out the day. About 9 months into the job, I started to notice that my right leg would get very stiff. I wouldn't feel it during my shift, only after when i was relaxing. From my lower back to my knee, only the right leg, it would get very stiff and sore, and I can hardly move. It is often a struggle to get up or to just move after I have sat for a little while. It would feel like I was paralyzed. Any movement or sitting the wrong way would cause extremely sharp pain. After a night of rest, it does get better, but will continue to hurt the next day, after my shift. I have avoided the doctor because I fear he will say the cause is my weight. I know my weight is an issue, as I have gained a good 60 pounds this year alone, but I refuse to believe all this pain is caused by my weight. What could it be?
