Hello,

Sorry to hear that you are having a painful toe. There is almost nothing worse than having pain anywhere on your feet.

As a diabetic I am sure that you are aware that you need to be extra vigilant in caring for your feet and making sure that any cuts or scrapes are kept clean and dry and free from infection.

By your description, it appears as though you may have broken your toe. Unfortunately it is difficult to "splint" the little toe. Healing ocurs in about 4-6 weeks. Apply some ice to the toe to reduce the swelling, wear shoes that have a broad or open toe. Be careful however if wearing an open toe shoe so as not to re-injure the toe.

If the pain worsens, or swelling increases, you may want to see your doctor for confirmaton of the diagnosis and suggested treatment.

I hope that this information has been helpful to you.
