Hello,

One of the main casues of nausea combined with occasional stomach pain is due to high gastric acidity. Could you tell me what tests were conducted by her doctor? And what the results are?

MRI @ Cat Scan the results were she may have a small cyst on her ovary but nothing they would mess with.Other than that everything was normal. Also we have one child that was born prematurely. They said something dealing with the umbilical might cause these symptoms also ? I dont think so but Im not a doctor. It seems like something else to me. Hormonal or gastric.

Hello,

A small cyst in the ovary (one less than 3 cms in size) will not cause any symptoms like nausea. If it had caused any symptoms, the first symptom would have been about the periods - heavy or light periods, irregular periods etc.

I feel sure that the nausea is due to gastritis. Sometimes the first sign that the stomach wall is inflamed due to chronic gastritis is nausea and bloating of the stomach. the nausea usually occurs more on an empty stomach.

To get relief from gastritis please follow the following steps:

- Sip cold water from time to time during the day to dilute any acid present in the stomach. Ice cold milk or ice cream can also dilute the acid as well as provide relief of symptoms.

- Take 4-5 small meals instead of 3 major meals. Ice-cold rice pudding is ideal for you.

- Avoid greasy, fried food.

- Sleep in a propped up position instead of flat on the bed to prevent acid reflux.

- As soon as she wakes up in the morning and before getting up from bed, ask her to nibble at 2-3 dry crackers. These will absorb whatever acid and gas has collected in her stomach overnight. She is to lie quietly in bed for another 30 minutes.

- Liquid and soild food is not to taken together. Liquids are to be taken at least 1 hour after solids.

- She can take an antacid called Mucaine gel. This contains an antacid as well as a local anaesthetic and willl decrease any heartburn.

- Gelusil is an antacid that contains a substance called simethicone. This is capable of absorbing gases from the stomach. So gelusil acts both to dilute the acid as well asdecrease the gas and nausea from the acidity.

I believe that these steps will decrease her gastritis to some extent, allowing any inflammation of the esophagus and stomach walls to heal. This in turn will decrease the nausea.

I hope this helps.

I dont believe this is the case. I forgot to mention there was an issue involved with her having a C-Section in which they said tissue might cause nausea. Also Is there any hormonal issues that would or could cause nausea? I really dont think this is gas related.
Thanks

Hello,

The causes of nausea are mainly related to problems in the gastro-intestinal system. The only hormonal problem that can cause some amount of nausea is Addison's disease , a disease of the adrenal glands where the gland fails to produce enough adrenal hormones like cortisone and aldosterone.

Please see here a list of causes of nausea:

I hope this helps.
