Why do I get intense pain when I urinate, but ONLY after ejaculation? The pain burns all the way to my bladder. I have no pain and no problems when I urinate any other time. Also, I dont urinate immediately after ejaculation, and not always. It normally takes about 30 min or so, if I need to urinate, before I do.

There are a couple of things that may be going on here. This could indicate an STD, such as Gonorrhea or Chlamydia. Which can be confirmed via a swabbing of the urethra.

If this has been done, then I would request a semen analysis to rule out any bacteria.

Also since this occurs after you ejaculate, it may be that urethra tube is not opening back up properly to allow urine out freely which may cause a burning sensation.

I would follow up with your doctor for the above tests, so proper medication/treatment can be given.

Hope this helps, If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don't forget to click the *ACCEPT* button and leave *POSITIVE* feedback.

Reply to Lindie's Post: I just had blood tests for STD's - all negative

As i said only happens after sex or masturbation - all other times no problem - is your best guess that it is not opening and what is that called?

First let me say that the most reliable testing for an STD is via urethra swab. So I wouldn't rule that avenue out as of yet.

As far as the other (which is possible) Muscles in the testicles and the vas deferens contract, ready for the semen to go down the urethra. The passage of urine into the urethra is blocked off. Fluid from the prostate gland and the seminal vesicles mixes with the sperm to form semen, which collects at the top of the urethra.

So at this point, I would verify the possible STD and I would also ask about a semen culture as well.

If all that comes back clean. Then you may need to have a scope done. Which if you are only seeing a family doctor, I would suggest seeing a urologist.

Hope this helps Hun

After thinking about this a bit, one thing you may want to just try (not sure if it will help) but try taking about 600mg of ibuprofen about 45 min prior to having sex and see if this helps, as ibuprofen is good for inflammation.

Other wise, a magnifying scope to view the urinary tract may be needed.
