I am due to start my period on October 3 and leave for vacation on October 5. I have not been on the pill, but do have two packs of Lo-Ovral. Would it delay menses to take 2 a day? If not, any advice you can give would be much appreciated.

If you had been taking birth control daily then we could have skipped the 'pill free' week, taking two of Lo-Ovral would not be enough to delay your period.

You need to ask your doctor for norithisterone 5mg tablets. Start taking them three times daily at least three days before your period is due. If you take them continually your period will be delayed. It will restart about three days after stopping the tablets.

Your period may be slighter heavier when it does come along but no other problems usually occur.

So give your doctor a ring to arrange this asap.

regards
