Parathyroid glands

I have been told by my doctor that one of my parathyroid glands is overactive. Blood work has been done several times but when the scan was done it said all looked normal. I know whichever gland it is will englarge somewhat. Approximately how lone once this problem starts does it take for the gland to enlarge>

Reply to Alexander Irvine's Post: No just blood work and the scan where they did inject me with something, took the scan and then approximately three hours later took another scan. They stated that the overactive gland should hold on to what the injected longer and that is how they would see it and know.

Sounds like you have a had a radionuclotide scan - a reasonable investigation.

The next step is the angigraphy I mentioned above.
