Sir,

I am sorry that you have to undergo this pain but it is necessary to understand the causes that cause such pain and take adequate measures to avoid those causes.

The causes are-

  • neuropathies -damage to nerves or even a single nerve can cause weakness and numbness in the limbs. This damage can occur as a result of infection, or nutritional deficiencies or compression of the nerves by any growth or surrounding tissues too.Other cause can be injury to the nerve.
  • Diabetes, hypertension can also cause neuropathies
  • Blood vessels if compressed can also cause numbness and coldness if there has been a constriction either due to arteritis or due to emboli.Though the presence of an emboli can can cause a pain in the limbs too.

I would suggest you to consult a doctor and rule out these causes. You require investigations for diagnosis and further treatment.

You can follow these steps meanwhile to give you relief-

  1. Do use stockings
  2. Soak your feet in warm water if that comforts you.
  3. Avoid smoking.
  4. Donot hang your feet for long hours and keep them straight at the knee level.
  5. Avoid walking if it causes pain.

Please do consult your doctor soon and hopefully your legs will be better. Hope this has been useful.

Reply to haloprecious's Post: what type of Dr. should I see?
I am not diabedic.
can I build up the musceles in my leg? they seem to be getting weaker.
I am showing signs of depression, i.e. wanting to be alone, staying in my room, no interest in sex, no interest in anything. I just find walking painful and slow. And low back pain.

Hello Sir,

Its good to hear from you and also to know that you are not a diabetic.

The best doctor would be a MD medicine. He would be the right person to rule out the causes as well as depression. Do mention it to him since an MD Medicine would not really be concerned about the mental status as it is not his forte. You can also seek a professional psychologist or a psychiatrist who are better equipped to deal with depression,if you aren't satisfied with the medicine specialist treating depression.

You can build your muscles by exercising and a protein filled diet. What's more it has been proved that exercising leads to secretion of certain chemicals called endorphins and serotonin which are "feel good" chemicals. These act as mood elevators. So exercise is not only good for the muscles and generally the body but also the mind.

There are certain other things also which I would request you to follow-

  • Drinking at least 10 glasses of water daily.
  • Avoid alcoholic or carbonated drinks, smoking
  • Diet should include more of fruits and veetables and a high fibre and low fat diet
  • Walking or any suitable exercise for at least 40 mins per day.this will strengthen you mucles as wellas bones as calcium is better absorbed with exercise and of course will lift your moods too.
  • Practise breathing exercise. I am convinced that this will cause a difference in your mood and attitude with at least 15 days of daily practice. Don't doubt its simplicity it is effective.

Breathing exercise

Preferably, this is done early in the morning and essentially with empty stomach. If you can sit crosslegged on the floor, it would be nice. If not, no problem, sit on a chair. Make sure that the back is straight and feet firmly on the ground and hands on the lap. Close the eyes. Inhale and while inhaling the air should fill the stomach and raise it. Hold it for a few seconds and then exhaling allowing the stomach to fall. Hold for a few seconds and than start over again.Pracise this for at least 15 mins. Later as you get used to it you will find this time limit to be short and can increase it slowly upto an hour or even more. It might be a bit difficult in the beginning with the thoughts distracting you, what you can do then is slowly guide the mind back to breathing process as soon as you realize that it is distracted.

It is known to increase energy levels,I have experienced it and wish it helps you too. Hope all of these has been useful to you.
