I am a 41 year old female, married 19 years, 4 children ages 14, 11, 8, 7.

I have gained many pounds in the last several years, with 13 this month alone. I am 5'9" and weigh 225 pounds.

I have been diagnosed with uterine fibroid tumors causing very painful periods and pain.

I have been on many different pain pills, a tens unit, and physical therapy for lower back pain.

I suffer from chronic muscle pain all over my body, chronic headaches, and extreme fatigue.

The doctor did a complete physical and could find no abnomalities in the exam or blood work and insists I diet to lose weight. I have been on many diets and have spent hundreds of dollars only to continue to gain weight.

I get round, raised rashed, about the size of a silver dollar on my thighs and stomach. I have never been able to correlate this to anything.

My legs feel heavy and hurt, especially if I have to walk any kind of distance

I currently take advair and singulair for asthma.

My question is two-fold. My ob-gyn thinks a hysterectomy will help with the severe back pain. Have you ever heard of this?

Secondly, can you think of any reasons why I could be gaining weight at such a rapid pace? My family doctor and ob/gyn don't seem to take my concerns seriously.

Thank you for your help.
