I don't know if you should be mixing tylenol and mobic or arthotec at the same time. Ask your doctor about this.
Having extra weight on your body won't help the drainage your foot needs. So, think about your ankle situation and see if losing weight will help the circulation in your leg.
When you sit down or lie down during the day or at night, elevate your foot higher than your heart. Lying down is best, and put plenty of pillows under your calf. Raise your foot up higher than your heart to ensure you get as much blood return as possible. Do this for a week and see how the swelling compares.
Osteoarthritis of the ankle can cause all this swelling - your doctor is right. And the bad thing is that surgery is only a temporary relief for most people - because the osteoarthritis will form again in the surgical area. This has happened to my husband (in his 40's) since he had to have impinged nerves in his shoulders released. When the osteoarthritis was removed, one year later it was back with a vengeance.
Many Orthopedists do recommend a short course of Physical Therapy on a short term basis over the course of a few years to ensure that movement of the joints are preserved and it doesn't get worse. This may be of benefit to you too.
There are no easy answers. But there are things that can be done to prevent further deterioration and give you a bit of relief at times.
