belangere,

The most important things are to keep the baby off his stomach as much as possible. Keep the area of the cut clean and dry, and look out for any signs of infection, including swelling, redness, or foul odor. If the doctor recommends it, Vaseline gauze can be used around the head of the penis, but this should be used for up to two days, and changed every time the diaper is changed. Make sure you wash your hands before and after you change the gauze. After the first day, a small amount of petroleum jelly can be put on the wound each time the diaper is changed. This stop prevent the penis from sticking to the diaper and aid in the healing process. It usually takes about two weeks to heal, and after this time has passed a tub bath can be given. During a bathing, the remaining foreskin should be pulled back to clean the area.
