Sex after giving birth
Sent to Health Experts January 10 06:11 PM

I just gave birth three weeks ago. I had an episiotomy. My husband and I engaged in having unprotected sexthe first time after a week, and several times since then. We tore both of the stitches. I went to have them looked at in the hospital, since my physician was unable to keep an appointment with me. The doctor in the hospital very briefly looked at me and tld me that I had torn the stitches, but I would heal, and that there was no infection, but I was too scared to admit that my husband and I had been having sex...so when he asked, I lied. We had sex a couple times since then, and I am worried about a couple of things. There has also been a lot of tenderness in my abdomen and a few sharp pains here and there. Intercourse isn’t painful, other than down near the bottom where I haven’t healed yet from the epesiotomy...it is more or less the after effects of sex. I stop bleeding for a little while, but then when we have sex, I start bleeding again. So, my concerns are...Could I have gotten pregnant again, and how will I be able to tell? Will I heal okay, will the area where I had torn the stitches still heal? How can I tell if there is an infection? Are there any serious problems I need to worry about? Please help. Thanks so much!
