How do I get a colonoscopy when I have hemorrhoids?

At my initial colonoscopy exam, the doctor rescheduled my appointment because he said I had a bad prep. For the next rescheduled appointment he prescribed colyte. He noticed that I had hemorrhoids however, he proceeded and I had to endure a lot of pain in vain. Should I still get a colonoscopy when I have bad hemorrhoids? I had an hemorrhoids surgery done last year; however, the hemorrhoids are back. What should I do?
