I am concerned because I have had my period for 19
Sent to Health Experts September 30 09:33 PM

I am concerned because I have had my period for 19 years now and I have never been irregular until now. It has not even been 10 days since I finished my last period when I began bleeding again. Also I have always had short periods 3-4 days and with this irregular cycle I have been bleeding for 7 days now.Should I be worried? I am not cramping or anything though.Although I am not bleeding much,It is still bright red and I see no signs that it will end soon because usually on my regular periods the blood is brownish towards the end of my period.

Sometimes a person cycle can change for no reason at all. So if this is the first time this has occurred, I wouldn't worry about it too much. However if this irregular bleeding continues next month, then you need to see your doctor. When it comes to irregular cycles, there are several causes. Examples; stress, weight gain/loss, medication, illness, climate, cyst, or polyp of the cervix, hormonal imbalance, thyroid, infection.. just to name a few. So if this happens again, the bleeding lasts for more than 10 days. If you start to go through a pad/tampon in less than an hour, do be seen right away. Otherwise, follow up with your doctor if the irregular cycle continues beyond 10 days or if it continues to be irregular.
