Sent to Health Experts October 24, 2006 12:41 a.m.

I have been diagnosed with dysplasia of the larynx, ( both sides ), my Dr. said that at this point there was no reason to do a biopsy, as he said he didn't think it was cancerous yet. He did say that my voice probably not return to it's normal voice. Every time I search for dysplasia of the larynx on the net, it always sends me to links for cancer of the larynx. Is there a difference? Should I tell my DR. to go ahead and do a biopsy now, instead of waiting? I am a smoker, for over 35 years, and I know that is probably the reason I have this, but my concern is that it has spread to other areas of my body before it has caused symptoms here. My mother died 22 years ago from cancer that had spread to the liver, and they never found the primary site, so I'm a little concerned. Both of my brothers have experienced testicular cancer, and had surgery to correct it. I am concerned, because I feel my doctor was too vague and unconcerned about my situation. Am I over-reacting or not? Thx
