For about one month I have experienced constant tingling down my lower left arm with occational pain at the elbow and muscle. I initially went to the emergency ward because the pain and tingling was accompanied by elevated blood pressure. Since that time I have gotten my blood pressure under control but the attending Doctor told me that the tingling would go away. Do you have any opinion as to what might be the problem, if in fact you think it is one?

Abnormal pain in the left arm in a patient with blood pressure or other cardiovascular problems needs to be evaluated for possible angina.

However assuming angina has been ruled out, then a nerve related problem needs to be ruled out. The pattern of the tingling can sometime point to a specific nerve, or it may be due to compression of a nerve root at the level of the neck.

In this case a CT of cervical spine may be needed.
