I hit my elbow very hard on Sunday, since then I don't have feeling down to my pinky finger and I get tingling sensations with certain movements. Will the nerve return to normal in time? What should I do?

Hello,

You have hurt the ulna nerve that supplies this region. Yes, the nerve will return to normal in time. The standard time is 1 month, but sometimes it can take as long as 6 months for a full recovery.

You can exercise your arm regularly - muscular movements help to stimulate nerves for a quicker recovery. Take a multivitamin supplement, especially one containing high doses of Vitamin B1, B6 and B12 as thses are necessary for the formation of nervous tissue.

If the feeling does not return in 1 month, please consult a neurologist for a full examination and a nerve conduction velocity test.

I hope this helps.
