Numbness is almost always the result of a pinched nerve. This is most likey from your ulnar nerve which runs through your wrist and elbow. It could also be due to carpal tunnel syndrome which is most likely the cause of repetative movements of your wrist.

Ice is good as is resting it as much as possible, so the splint is good too, as long as you release it periodically for wrist range of motion so it doesn't stiffen up on you. If this doesn't help, you will want to get further testing, and may need surgical intervention.

Reply to Kerry's Post: I read that with carpal tunnel usual the pinky is not affected, is that true?

It can be true, but everyone is different. Most pinky and ring finger numbness is due to the ulnar nerve in the elbow area. It could still be in the wrist though. Or cubital tunnel.

I would immoblize and ice the elbow as well. Oh, and try some motrin or advil if you can take those....it will help with any inflammation.
