I am a 60 yr.old type 2 diabetic (6 yrs.), weight 325#(steady-10yrs).Blood sugar-AM-at rising 120-130 (6yrs).Am actually a small eater but some carbs-breads.Have started an exercise regimen-treadmill,hoping for 275 #.Since starting exercise (1NOV) AM sugar has gone to 170-200.Only change in diet is attempt to eat less carbs....Take Avandia and Glybur-Metfor X2/day (4yrs).What could be going on? Has exercise triggered something? Thanks OT Campbell

Dear Mr. Campbell:

It is unlikely that your high sugar level is trigged by exercise. For some people, exercise may increase sugar level for awhile. However, this usually happens in the first hour of exercise.

You should talk to your doctor about the high sugar level. You doctor may have to add medications to control the sugar level. It is common for type 2 diabetic patients, because the disease is progressive. You also should talk to your doctor about exercise. The following websites have more information.
