At night, I have large blotches like black clouds that cover my entire eye and shut out anything I look at. I cannot make them go away by blinking or shifting my eyes. Sometimes they do not shut out my entire vision. WhenI close my eyes, I see the same blotch but bright.not black. I do not have the problem in the daytime. I would like Dr. Gupta to answer this question. The last reply was unsatisfactory and I have been told Dr. Gupta is an expert.

Permanent or recurring white or black spots in the same area of your field of vision may, however, be an early warning sign of cataracts or another serious eye problem. If you experience a shadow or curtain that affects any part of your vision, this can indicate that a retinal tear has occurred and has progressed to a detached retina. In this situation, you should immediately consult an ophthalmologist since time is of the essence.
Here is a web site that will explain more throughly..I watch this question all day and since he didn't answer I did some research..Hope that's okay..
