for the last two nights I would wake up every couple hrs w a fever and stomach pains/cramps, I would be really hot and sweaty and then I would get really cold. This goes on through out the day, sometimes I feel ok and then the stomach pains come back. My stomach doesn''t really feel nausuos, however, I did throw up yesterday morning. it's more like sharp pains, almost like cramps. I've been eating alright, and I took some tums and advil last night, and it helped the pain for a little while. This morning I feel like I'm burning up even more. Do you have any idea what this might be? I've never felt like this before.

Reply to Dr Amit Munjal's Post: The pain is right above my belly button. I do not have any medical history relavent to this. I finally took my temperature today and I'm at 96.9 degrees, when I'm usually always 98.6. So I guess it's not a fever. I have no burning while I urinate and no diarea or constipation. But I feel really hot, and I'm still having some pains. Not sure about the blood pressure. Is there something over-the-counter I could try?

Hi,

The location of pain you describe is called as epigastric pain in medical language .
The epigastrium is the area of central abdomen lying just below the sternum and above the belly button .
There can be a variety of causes of epigastric pain like GERD , gastritis , peptic ulcers ,Gall stone etc ,pancreatitis to name a few .
As such if the pain is severe you should be seen by a doctor and an ultrasound of the abdomen may be done .
Also in the mean time you may take some OTC antacids like mylanta and if the pain is severe then antispasmodics to treat the pain would be needed .
Hope this helps
With regards
Dr Amit Munjal
