my 26 month old son has been spiking a temp

my 26 month old son has been spiking a temp anywhere bewteen 101 and 103.8 for 8 days. he was diagnosed with pneumonia and was on zythromax which did nothing, so now he is on amoxicillain and has been for 2 1/2 days. why isn't this fever going away? could it be something more serious?
