I have a fever that is going on day 10. It started off with a white tongue light sneezes and now just a fever-hot on top of hands and top of back. My normal temperature is 96- my fever has been ranging from 97.2-98.5. I am also on Levora- birth control. I took Septra(Batrim) 3 weeks ago for a UTI. Can this be the reason for my sickness? I have been to the doctors 4 times and they just pass me off. I do not have a rash. Optional Information: Female , Age: 29Already Tried: Tylenol, rest, fruits, vegetable, garlic, echanacia, cayenne pepper. On Keflex for UTI that came back.

Body temperature can vary depending on the time of day - your temperature is usually lowest in the early hours of the morning and highest in mid afternoon. If you have not had a blood work up, I would suggest in asking your doctor to perform this. If there is an infection going on it will show up. Other wise as we get older things do change so it may be that it's all a coincidence to the UTI and cold and you have a new body temperature as well. It could also be Thyroid/hormone related as well. But then again, a blood test would give a clearer picture on this. You state you have tried Tylenol. Try Motrin. Some people respond better the one or the other. So you may be in that situation as well. If you are not getting anywhere with your doctor you can try another doctor for a 2nd opinion or an endocrinologist would be very good as well.

Reply to Lindie's Post: Thanks for the reply. I have been to the doctors' 4 times and twice with blood work and they do not find any infection. This is what puzzles me. I thought maybe it was a flu but I only had the sneezing thing for a day and that disappeared. So now it has been 10 days with only fever symptoms. I have read many awfult thing on the drug Septra/Bactrim in whcih I took on Dec 2-Dec 9 with no side effects. Can this still stay in the system for a while? Is there a way to clense the drug out of the system?

It won't stay in your system long, that is why when used to treat an infection, in your case UTI, it needs to be taken every day to keep the levels up or it will not work. If there were an adverse reaction as well to this medication then your blood work would have came back as abnormal as well.

Since you are having no other signs of any illness at this point, I would just monitor your temperature daily. Morning, Noon and night. Try to do this the same time. If it continues to run a normal pattern then they may just be your normal now. Which then would explain all the blood work coming back fine. If there is a different temp each day and no normal pattern, then you should see an endocrinologist which would be more helpful. (if you do see an endo, make sure to get a copy of your current blood work so he has something to compare it to)

Hope this helps Hun.
