My 8 month old baby has had a fever of 102 axillary for 2 days now. I took her to her peditrician today and she has an ear infection (the 5th one since november) but I cannot get her fever down with tylenol or motrin. she is red faced and fussy, cranky and not drinking very much formula and she is not playing like normal. should I be worried and take her to the hospital?

There is a big differential for febrile illness. If she is having fever for 2 days, it could be because of ear infection. If the baby is on antibiotics for ear infection, and still having persistant fever, other causes of fever need to be ruled out. Probably a septic workup needs to be done. I recomend taking her to the hospital for these tests if fever persists for 24 hours.
