my seven year old daughter has had a fever since Monday, this is day 6. It's back and forth, the fever breaks with the motrin and 6 hours later comes back. The fever is usually higher at night. It has been as high as 103.4 and as low as 100.8. She has a fever right now and it's 102.2 (took her temp in her mouth). This is the first fever for today, so the fevers are at wider intervals then they were in the beginning of the week. Her only other symptoms are a cough and she says her tummy hurts only when the fever is up. We have been to the doctor twice and they did a strep test which came back negative, she had some fluid in her ears so they gave us an Rx for Amoxicillian. Other than that her throat looked good, breathing was good, lungs were clear and glands were not swollen. But I am perplexed and concerned why she would still have a fever after 6 days?
