my son is 5 months old and he has a fever

my son is 5 months old and he has a fever reaching 100.1 to 101.0 (underarm), we went to hospital yeterday and the doctor told us he has virus and did not elaborate more and sent us home now im treating him with motrin every 6 hrs. pls help me if i should go to the hospital now or continue to observe him?
