Is there a home remedy for blocked ears?   They don't hurt. Just my voice is echoing inside my head and I cannot hear 100%.   I've had a cold since a week ago (this is the 8th day).

It sounds like you have fluid in the ears from your cold. I would suggest taking an antihistamine and decongestant at the same time to help with the drainage. If you think you have it blocked with ear wax, you can get over the counter ear wax removal kits. Otherwise, if you are on the mend, you may just have to wait a few more days until it clears itself.

In the near future: If you are getting better now and then get markedly worse and are worse than you were when you first started your cold, you may have a secondary bacterial infection and need an antibiotic. If you get a fever and pain with your ear pain, you could also need an antibiotic for that.

Reply to Mia's Post: What do I do if I'm scheduled to take a airplain flight 7/13?   Should I go to a doctor if it's not cleared up by a week from today?   FYI, I don't think it's ear wax.   I will try the antihistamine / decongestant at the same time.

If the a/d combo doesn't have you unplugged within 2-3 days, I would go to a doctor to give yourself enough time to have it taken care of before the flight! Once you hit altitude change, it KILLS if you have plugged ears because the pressure inside is compounded and yowzer! I wouldn't want you to feel that kind of pain, lets just say that!
