MY HUSBAND HAS HAD A FEVER FOR AT LEAST 36 HOURS. HE IS 56 YRS OLD. NO OTHER SYMPTOMS. IT IS RUNNING AROUND 102-103 ALOT OF THE TIME. THE ONLY THINGS THAT ARE OUT OF THE ORDINARY ARE:
1. HE WAS STUNG BY WASPS/HORNETS (WHATEVER) ABOUT 3 DAYS AGO.
2. HE HAS BEEN ON MUSCLE RELAXERS AND PAIN MEDS FOR OVER A WEEK.
2. HE HAS A SCRATCH (THAT BLED) FROM OUR PET DOG THAT HAPPENED THE NIGHT BEFORE THE FEVER STARTED. IT IS RED, BUT THERE ARE NO LINES COMING FROM THE WOUND.
I WILL BE TAKING TO THE DOCTORS TOMORROW...BUT I AM WORRIED TO LEAVE IT UNTIL THEN...CAN YOU GIVE ME AN EDUCATED OPINION IF I AM OK LEAVING THIS UNTIL TOMORROW? IBEPROFEN TAKES IT DOWN ALITTLE (100+) FOR ONLY A COUPLE OF HOURS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

First you may want to switch from the Ibuprofen and give Tylenol as one will respond better to one or the other. When it comes to fevers in adults, If it persists for more than 3 days, then he should be evaluated. Since it's only been less than 2 days he will be OK to wait till morning. But he needs to be seen tomorrow. Make sure he is getting plenty of fluids, so he doesn't become dehydrated. If he get ANY other symptoms, then take him in. Try the Tylenol and see if this helps. If this doesn't at least help to bring it down to a low grade of 99 or so, for longer than 2 hours, then I would have him seen. If you are not 100% sure he will be able to get into his doctor in the morning, then I would also have him seen. There are so many causes for a fever that without additional in person evaluation and/or blood work is not way to pin point.

Hope this helps, If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don’t forget to click the *Accept* button
