i have an 18 month old who has had a red rash all over

i have an 18 month old who has had a red rash all over his body for almost 2 days. he seems to be fine but the rash is darker red on the back of his arms and back of his legs. it is not raised it is just discolored. we thought it was a heat rash but i didn't think they laster that long.
