my 10 month old ran a fever over 101 for 3 days last week, that went down with tylenol, doctor did not feel he needed an office visit when fever did not return. now my eight year old looks like he has strep, should my 10 month old be tested, it is now 7 days after his first symptoms of fever

Does he still have a fever? It won't hurt to have both children tested to be sure. It's harder to tell if a 10 month old has a sore throat. Bring them both in together.

Reply to Kerry's Post: Only ran fever for 3 days, but a slight cough, just figured it was teething, would a fever from strep go down with Tylenol or Motrin? Is it too late to put the 10 month old on antibiotics to prevent long term effects from a strep infection?
It is now 8 days after first symptoms, would a strep test still detect bacteria?

thanks

If he has strep, it will show positive. No, it is not too late to treat him. Chances are it is too soon for any long term effects. He may not have even had strep. So, your next step is to have him tested and take it from there.

Hope that helps!
