Hello and Welcome to Just Answer.
Your daughter has what they call "Herpangina", which is a painful mouth infection usually with fever. The name sounds like herpes, but almost all of the viruses that cause it are called "cocksackieviruses and/or enterovirus". Most kids will catch this in the summer or early fall.
The illness usually comes on pretty sudden, usually with fever. Sometimes they will lose their appetite right before the fever begins. The mouth sores or blisters usually occur at the same time as the fever. Children average around 5-6 blisters in the mouth, and they are surrounded with a red ring and can be anywhere inside the mouth. They usually start as small red bumps and then into blisters or sores. The illness usually lasts from 3 to 6 days. Antibiotics will generally not help. What is most important in this time period is making sure your child gets enough fluids, relieving the pain with tylenol and maybe alternating with motrin, and controlling the symptoms the best way you can. Don't really worry about the eating part right now because this is painful and they will probably not eat. What is good is popcicles or sherbert or something cold which will numb their mouth.
