My daughter-inlaw, age 41, has had a problem with her ear for months now. She went swimming today and got water in it, and now her ear drained with a mixture with blood in it. Tonight she has a 102 fever. Should she go to emergency or just put in the medicine she already was given by her doctor called Ciprodex?

Its better to go to the Emergency. It is fairly common to develop ear infections after swimming, but usually it does not lead to a draining ear, only pain and feeling of fullness. But in her case, she has already developed draining with blood stains, so it is a quite severe infection. When along with this, she has also developed fever upto 102 degree, it indicates that she will probably need oral antibiotics and a ear drop alone will not suffice. So you should go to the ER.
