To help relieve the pain until you see the doctor, you can place a warm washcloth or heating pad against your ear. Acetaminophen or ibuprofen may also ease discomfort.

Keep water out of the ear, A shower cap offers protection while showering or bathing, or ear plugs.

The doctor will prescribe a antibiotic or eardrops.

Watch for fever its common in swimmers ear.
