My son, 9, has had a fever for 1 month. Every day he wakes up fine and by night time, his fever is up to 101 or 102. He naps often during the day for 2 or 3 hours and when not sleeping he complains about being tired. He has frequent headaches which he has had for 4 yrs. He's not very active due to the fact that he has no energy. He eats fine and has no other pain except the headache. He has been on one 10 day round of Amoxicillin which did nothing except bring the fevers down from the 104s that were happening at the beginning of the month. We have now started another 2 wk. round of Amox. just in case it could be Lyme Disease or Sinusitis. The tests for Lyme and mono should come back on Mon.
He began the month with a pounding on his chest at 3:30 a.m. which woke him up. The pounding caused him to have trouble breathing until he calmed down. This all lasted about 5 min. The same thing happened 3 days later and it hasn't happened since.
He had a nosebleed 2 weeks ago that lasted 15 mins. with 3 good sized clots.
Please help us. We feel so bad for him. To be 9 yrs. old and not enjoying the summer days is terrible! Thank you. Laurie Ferreira
