Can my son get sick from feces on his hands and

Can my son get sick from feces on his hands and putting it into his mouth or nose ? The day care he was at didint clean him and he was eatting a snack when i picked him up. He had poop on his hands and under his nails. Should I be really concered about this:?

Yes definitely you should be concerned about this ,Contaminated hands with faeces if put in mouth or nose can lead to serious Infectious disease .There should be proper vigilance with regards to hygeine.

Today his had a fever and a bad cough , runny nose. He is goinmg to the Dr. how will I be able to know if this is from the feces ?

Well the fever ,running nose ,cough are all manifestations of infection,but as such the source of infectious organism can be from else where also like droplet infection from other childrens.So as such it is difficult to attribute the source of infection.
