Hi,
I went shopping with my daughter on Saturday but sat in the car because I wasn't feeling well. I got home and had a fever for the next two days and then I noticed that my left leg was hurting. It always has problems - an infection a couple years ago has left a semi-open wound there - so I wasn't too concerned. However later that day I noticed that there was an area that is hard and sensitive to touch - about the size of a golf ball and almost as hard. I thoulg it might be a recurrance of the infection, but now I am also concerned about a blood clot. Ca I rule out one or the other without a visit to the DR. (no insuance)? Thanks!

Blood clot symptoms generally are swelling of the effected leg, pain, pain that may become worse when bending ankle or leg, redness, leg cramps, possible change in color of your leg too.

Here is a site you may want to read about this as well.

It may also be a muscle related as well. I'm not sure what you mean by infection. There are people who get boils or skin infections etc. Generally if your fever is 100 or more this does indicate an infection. If there is not change or you don't feel better in the next day or two, you should be seen. Even if you don't have insurance you can be seen at the ER, as they have to see and treat you, regardless if you have insurance. If you have the symptoms of a clot as listed above, don't take chances Hun.

Best of luck, Hope this helps, If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don't forget to click the *ACCEPT* button and leave *POSITIVE* feedback.
