I have a stiff neck (on my right side) and the skin is VERY sensitive to touch. I'm running a 2 degree fever. There seems to be "lumps" on that side as well.
Any advice? I will be seeing my doctor on Monday, but I wondered if there is anything I can do to alleviate the sensitivity and release the tightness of my neck.

Hi,
By what you are describing it seems that you are having a severe infection which has involved the lumph nodes (lumps on the neck). The stiff neck also due to the swollen lymph nodes. Treatment wise you are doing the right thing. A few more measures that you can take are -

  • apply hot fomentation with a small towel to the neck
  • take good rest
  • take lots of fluids
  • continue taking motrin/tylenol.

Only point of concern is that if you are having a bacterial infection, then you might need prescription antibiotics. If its a viral infection then the fever should subside in the next couple of days with the above measures.
