Hi,

If you answer to any of these questions as yes,you need to call the doctor right away.

  • Its been more than 2 complete days since he has been coughing and inspite of the cough syrup, the cough has worsened.
  • fever more than 101 F
  • the mucus is colored
  • the child appears sick and cannot sleep
  • difficulty in breathing and complains of chest pain
  • has rashes or white patches on his throat
  • complains of earache

Apart for consulting your doctor, you can also give steam inhalation which serve as loosening the phlegm. Give him plenty of fluids prefrably warm to drink. Avoid aspirin. You can help clear the stuffiness of nose with nasal saline drops. Hope this helps and I wish your son an early recovery. You are welcome to ask doubts if any.
