menstral irregularities

about a year ago i was on the depo shot and i had a pretty reg. cycle. well now i haven't been on it for a while and my periods do come every month just not on the same dates. well my periods only last for a cople of days but not any more then 4 and i have now had it for 9 days. my periods were never regular but i have never had more then 4 days. what is going on?????????????????
