For about 2 months I have had pain in my finger joint (left hand, index finger). Specifically, about 2 months ago I felt a hard, small mass in that area (it feels like a small ball that rolls around). About a week ago another one formed in the finger next to it (middle one). They hurt when they are touched and some movement is limited. What is this? Is there treatment?

This is osteoarthritis and they are called heberden's nodes

antiinflammatory meds are often helpful like ibuprofen and aleve although they are not without risk
