Yesterday, the right ring on my right index finger was ...

Yesterday, the right ring on my right index finger was caught and my finger was stretched. It was very painful and I was able to remove my ring. I still have considerable numbness and a little swelling in my finger and my arm is real sore up to my shoulder. Will this problem subside with time? Or will I need to seek medical attention?
