Question

Soar and Swollen finger with fever

Sent to Health Experts September 17, 2006 12:41 a.m.

My husband woke up on Friday morning and noticed his left thumb was soar. It remained soar the entire day and got worse as the day went on. (He does not remember bumping his hand or anything else that would explain the soarness.) On Saturday, his thumb was still soar, and became swollen with severe pain. On Sat. evening, he felt warm and had an elevated temperature. His doctor told him to take Aleve and call him in two days if it did not get better. I am concerned that it might be something serious that would require medical attention sooner than Monday. Thank you.

Optional Information:
Male , Age: 29

Already Tried:
he has taken leftover pain medication - oxycodone, from a recent surgery as we do not have aleve. His doctor said this was ok.
