My husband was just released from hospital after 4 days ...

My husband was just released from hospital after 4 days with Viral Menangitis. He had problems with IV on 3rd day with soreness and swelling. About 4 hours after he was released his index finger and thumb (print part of finger) started to turn blue and now after about 8 hours his middle finger is turning blue and the index and thumb are worse. It is the same hand that the IV was in arm. We are worried that it is an infection? Hand is also a little tender around the discoloration
