I have recently had a cold and cough. Yesterday ...

Sent to Health Experts February 16, 2007 6:51 p.m.

I have recently had a cold and cough. Yesterday afternoon, I noticed that when I swallowed, I felt like my throat was slightly blocked by something near my Adams apple.

This has continued to today, and I no longer think its a food item lodged there. When I push on my Adam's apple in the area where I can feel the "stuck" item, and hold my finger there, then swallow, I no longer feel that "stuck" feeling...

ANy ideas what this could be?

Hi Amanda,

I have one idea what this might be. But, first I need to ask you a few questions:

Have you had any very recent highly stressful or emotional situations prior or during your cold?

Does it feel like you have a peach pit stuck in your throat that can;t be swallowed, but still feels like it's there?

Hi Justin

I did have a slightly stressful time prior to actually being "couch ridden". Another lady at work was sick for a week and I ended up working for 16 days in a row. I came home everyday and dealt with a sick 3 yr old and a sick 37 yr old (my bf.) By the way I am 30, not sure if you need that info or not.

I wouldn't say peach pit feeling, it feels smaller than that, but it is like there is something stuck that can't be swallowed.

Thanks so far!
